About Heart of Gold Homecare

Inspired by Love, Built with Purpose

Our Story

Heart of Gold Homecare was born from a personal story of resilience, love, and a determination to create lasting change. It began with our founder's sister, who was born with a rare genetic condition called Pycnodysostosis — a rare inherited disorder that affects bone density and growth, meaning every day brought new physical challenges, frequent hospital visits, and a level of care most families never have to imagine.

For 18 months, our founder and her parents stood by her side through every hospital stay and procedure. Alongside the medical challenges came something harder — the experience of a system that often felt dismissive, inaccessible, and impossible to navigate. When she passed away, the grief came with a quiet realisation: countless families were going through the same thing, in silence, unaware that compassionate, well-organised care could transform the journey.

That experience became the foundation for Heart of Gold Homecare.

Why We Do What We Do

Our founder went on to study nursing and work in healthcare, gaining the expertise needed to address the gaps her family experienced first-hand. Her younger brother, who shares the same rare condition, continues to inspire the work — and watching her parents navigate his care with strength and grace reinforced a single belief: families deserve care that goes beyond the clinical. They deserve kindness, understanding, and dignity.

Her own experience of caring for a grandmother and aunt through cancer added another layer to that conviction. She had seen, again and again, the difference that a calm, capable, compassionate carer could make in a family's worst weeks.

Heart of Gold Homecare is the embodiment of those experiences.

Our Mission

"To deliver care that is kind, respectful, responsive, and centred around each person's needs — and to make sure no family ever feels unsupported or alone."

Our Values

Four things shape every decision we make:

Compassion

We treat every client as we would our own family.

Dignity

We protect independence, respect privacy, and honour the person, not just the care need.

Reliability

When we say we'll be there, we're there. Every time.

Honesty

We tell families the truth, even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard.

A Note on the Year Ahead

We're proud of the foundation we've built since 2022 — supporting families across Bolton, Greater Manchester and Lancashire, with over 800 hours of care delivered every week and a team of more than 30 carers and support workers.

In 2026 we're expanding into Yorkshire, bringing the same approach to families across the Pennines. Wherever we go, the mission is the same: care that feels like family.
